TRACTION / MACHINE ROOM GOODS LIFT , Model Name/Number: TRACTION / MACHINE ROOM GOODS LIFT

  • (Customer Reviews)
Overview

A Traction Goods Lift (also known as a traction freight elevator) is a heavy-duty vertical transport system designed to move large loads, machinery, or pallets between floors. Unlike hydraulic lifts that use a piston to "push" the car, traction lifts use a system of cables and counterweights to "pull" the car.

They are the industry standard for taller buildings or high-traffic warehouses where speed and energy efficiency are priorities.

Machine Room (MR): Traditional setup where the motor and controller are in a dedicated room above the shaft.

Feature Geared Traction Gearless Traction
Mechanism Motor turns a gearbox which turns the sheave. Motor is directly connected to the sheave.
Speed Moderate (typically up to 1.5 m/s). High (can exceed 2.0+ m/s).
Best For Mid-rise warehouses / Industrial plants. High-rise commercial buildings / Skyscrapers.
Efficiency Good. Excellent (highest efficiency).

  • Unlimited Travel Height: Hydraulic lifts are limited by the length of the piston (usually 5–7 floors). Traction lifts can serve buildings of any height.

  • Speed & Efficiency: They move significantly faster than hydraulic models, which is vital for busy distribution centers with high "cycle times."

  • Energy Savings: Because of the counterweight and (often) regenerative drives, they consume much less power over time.

  • Smooth Leveling: Advanced controllers ensure the lift stops exactly flush with the floor, which is critical for moving heavy wheeled carts or forklifts without "tripping" or jarring the load.
